Buskaid Soweto String Ensemble Prom 15 July 2007

15 July 2007 - 19:00

BBC Sir Henry Wood Promenade Concerts 2007 - One Hundred and Thirteenth Season - Prom 3

Rosemary Nalden

Unforgettable experience

Buskaid was and still is the first and only classically trained orchestra from Africa to perform at a Prom in the Royal Albert Hall. All the musicians who played come from the disadvantaged communites of Soweto.  Buskaid appeared with African dancers from Capetown (Dance for All ) to perform Rameau together, and then to join forces with Sir John Eliot Gardiner, the Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists.
