We took my mother to the very first Songs of Praise Big Sing in 2001. Little did we know that by then she was already quite poorly. She took her seat and started to look through the program. I looked across at her and saw she had tears rolling down her face. When I asked if she was ok she sobbed tears of joy - "I'm going to see Cliff Richards." She had been a fan of Cliffs for many years but saw him fairly close up in a place she had never been before!! We had a long day going on the London Eye, visiting Westminster Abbey and a boat trip down the Thames all before going to the Albert Hall in the evening.
Sadly Mum died at the beginning of March the following year so all those first -time treats in London were truly her Chance of a Lifetime.
