This Don McLean Concert was to be the first of many back in 1972. A neighbour invited me after a friend backed out, so it was a stroke of luck really. We were way up in the 'Gods', and although the artist was a tiny dot in the distance, the view and atmosphere was fantastic. The support act came on, looked around and nervously said into the mic, 'Jesus Christ'. A voice from up where we were called back a deep 'yeeeess!'. It certainly broke the ice.
I returned to see Don the following October, by which time my dad was working for a company that leased 'Grand Tier Box 12'. Tickets were issued by ballot, but we were lucky enough to see the likes of Demis Roussos, Paul Simon, Diana Ross, Steeleye Span and Cat Stevens.
My most recent visit was Music for the Marsden. I have to say, the Royal Albert Hall never disappoints! Congratulations and thank you for many years of quality, class and the best music in the world.
