Handel's Messiah

Helen Heard

First visit

When I was about fourteen (early 1970's) my then next door neighbour was the Tenor, Philip Langridge and he invited me to hear him sing in Messiah.

I had never been to the Royal Albert Hall before, and remember being in absolute awe of the beautiful building and the wonderful music. I remember feeling the vibration of the organ through my feet and the tingle on the back of the neck as I listened to the music. Afterwards I was taken back stage and met Felicity Lott. I have returned to the Hall many times since, but have never forgotten the impact the building and music had on me in my teenage years.
