My first to the Albert Hall was as a young teenager to see Cliff Richard. I went with my older sister and cousins. Our younger cousin was so upset that she was not going my mother took pity on her and when she dropped us off she went in to see if she could buy tickets for her and my young cousin. We were up in the gods but the only seats available for my mother was down in the stalls so she ended up with the better seats. We all had a wonderful time and I remember Cliff coming on stage in a white suit with a black shirt. The Shadows were behind him and he performed all his hit records. It was the first concert I had ever attended and both I and my mother could not understand why all the girls in the audience were screaming and we could hardly hear Cliff.
I do, however, remember being so impressed with the building and the whole atmosphere and I have loved live theatre ever since. I next saw Cliff in the musical Time many years later. I am still a fan of his and the Albert Hall. On my bucket list is to be there for the last night of the proms.
