Puccini's 'Madam Butterfly'

Gregory Ashton (aka Lesley Ross)

Performer memory

Loved being an actor in Raymond Gubbay's hit Madam Butterfly... Four times I played 2nd Japanese Villager from the left!

From my entrance at Door L to being sat on stage every night when Butterfly sang One Fine Day... to handing her Sorrow as she lifts him in her arms and reveals him to 4000 people, I loved every minute.

Led me to being a Child chaperone... to performing a one man show about my experience and eventually to writing a radio play Madam Butterfly's Child (set at the Albert Hall) for BBC Radio Four Drama.
