To the Royal Albert Hall,
What a beautiful gift you have given me today! On October 4, 2017, one year ago today, I came to the Royal Albert Hall to see Tori Amos in concert. Tori is a woman who inspires me tremendously through her music, her lyrics, her activism, and her wisdom. Before she announced the European leg of her 2017 Native Invader Tour, I had decided that if she announced that her London stop was going to be at the Royal Albert Hall, I was going to be there. I live in the Washington, DC area (USA). I had been to the Royal Albert Hall once before for a performance of the BBC Proms in 2008. I knew then what an extraordinarily special place the Royal Albert Hall was. I had an opportunity to tour the Royal Albert Hall last year during my visit and to gain a deeper appreciation of its history. However, to be in the audience for Tori's performance last October was an experience of a lifetime.
I have been thinking of that night much lately. How special then that it was to have received your email today alerting me to your interview with Tori Amos on her memories of performing at the Royal Albert Hall, including her very emotional memories of the day of her performance last year. Clearly, she sees the Albert Hall as a very special place and I feel even more connected to Tori and to the Royal Albert Hall as a result of this interview.
Happy 150th in 2021! I am so pleased that I can be part of this celebration! If Tori returns between now and then so, too, will I.
