Waiting in the bullpen

Jerry Portnoy

Unforgettable experience

As a member of the Eric Clapton band in the 90's, I played the R.A.H. fifty-five times! We would stand backstage in what we called the "bullpen," waiting to run up the ramp to the stage. When the house lights would darken and we were announced, the tension, excitement, and anticipation of the crowd was thrilling and palpable as we sprinted up the ramp and hit the stage to an incredible ovation. It never got old and is one of my fondest memories of playing that magical venue.
