The Girls Brigade Annual Summer Performance at the Royal Albert Hall.
When I was a young girl and between the ages of 5 and 17 I was a member of the 1st Southend on Sea Girls Brigade and every year girls from Brigades all over the country had an annual concert at the Royal Albert Hall. It was always a truly memorable and exciting day and something we looked forward to with pride. We always had our lunchtime snack on the steps of the Albert Memorial.
When I was 14 (and I am now 70) my girls brigade company chose me to narrate the story of our performance.
Being chosen to do this was a massive honour and it was a very proud moment for myself and my family.
To speak into a microphone and to have your voice heard in the Albert Hall was a truly unforgettable moment and is without a doubt a wonderful life time memory that has never been forgotten.
